 First Semester Of College Recap

        

     For it being my first semester of college I would overall say it was a success. I came into college honestly not knowing what to expect, to be honest really. The reason I didn't know what to expect is because all these people tell me all this stuff about college and their experiences. Yes, they have been through college already and they have more experience than me but everyone ones experience in college is a lot different people from a bigger school are going to have a different experience than someone who maybe had a went to a smaller school like me. Obviously, I still listened to what they had to say about college but I really didn't pay too much attention to what they had to say and I just wanted to see for myself and have my own experience in college. Yes, I've only been here a semester but I've still experienced a lot in my 4 months of being here.

    My classes, I wish I could've done a little bit better in my classes because I feel like I kind of slacked off at the start because I was still in that summer mode and that really killed me at the start of my classes and wish that didn't happen. Once I got passed that slump though I really started to do my work and make sure I was really focusing on my work to get everything done on time and making sure that the assignments that I was turning in were done the right way and good quality. I also started to talk to my professor more to make sure that I was doing good in my classes and making sure that the work that I was turning in was right and that I was understanding the concept. I also started to seek academic help from a tutor or it was by one of my classmates to make sure I was doing good on my exams.

    I've really made a lot of friends during my first semester of college as well. They're not just from the soccer team too, I've met a lot of people from my classes who were really a joy to have in class and were very helpful and very kind which makes me really happy. Soccer also was very helpful for me as well because it helped me make friends super quick. After all, I saw them every day for the first 4 months of college we went to breakfast together we got lunch and dinner together which brought all of us together and all the freshmen were really close to each other. It being my first semester of college I ultimately say it was a success because I met a lot of friends that I will have lifelong friendships with because we were all very similar and a lot of us like the same hobbies after the soccer season ended a lot of us started to play basketball together and were going to start a competition with the older kids on the soccer team. It was a very enjoyable first semester and I can't wait for the future here and what the next semester and years here holds for me.

 First College Goal I'm going to talk about my first ever soccer goal for north central and how much it meant to me. So I scored my first ever soccer goal against Carthage College last Saturday on family weekend. The reason that it meant so much to me not only was it my first goal but it was also in front of my family and friends. My grandma was there to see it and my grandmother hasn't really been feeling well recently so it really meant a lot to me that she came and supported me at my game. Class Expectations for writing

 Hi, my name is will Mayer! This is my first year at North Central. This blog will be for my CARD 101 class. For my class expectations in this class, I want to become a better writer and extend my thoughts in writing instead of being very vague with my writing. In high school I really struggled in writing, because I feel that I wasn't really understanding what the author was getting at. Now that I'm in college that's very key to understand, because the writing level will be higher and there will a lot of information being thrown at you. I feel that one way that will help me is rereading and taking notes on what I read so then I can grasp what I just read.
